Know To Create An iPhone Or Android App Without Any Coding Skills

Learning how to code and produce a basic iPhone or Android app is not a simple drag and drop process. While Apple’s Xcode helps lay down the foundation for building an iPhone app, it can take hours of coding and trial and error to produce a basic RSS feed or portfolio application.
But if you’re really eager to make a mobile app based on your website, business, organization, or just a fun quiz game, a website called Buzztouch may well be the web-based solution for you. Buzztouch is essentially Content Management Software for iOS and Android. It provides a template-based process in which you import your app’s information into the online software, and in turn it will create the code that you need to compile the data for your application. I gave a try and it does work.
Know To Create An iPhone Or Android App Without Any Coding Skills

What You Need

MUO has previously covered the steps on how to develop a simple iPhone app and submit it iTunes. You should read that article as it’s part of this process. Buzztouch however does not get your app onto iTunes, nor does it compile it in the programming application, Xcode, or the Android counterpart. What Buzztouch does is help you develop your app so that you can export the code to Xcode, and then from there you go through the process of submitting your app to the iTunes App Store. Since I’m an iPhone and Mac user, this review will focus on creating an iPhone app.
The tools Buzztouch provides are totally free. It seeks to inspire aspiring developers, designers, content publishers, and the like to leverage their technology.
However, beyond Buzztouch, you will need a copy of Xcode on your Mac. If you already have a current or older free version of Xcode, you’re set to go. If not, you will have to download it from the Mac App Store, for $5. Once you get your app completed, you will need to shell out $99 for a developer’s license to upload your app to the iTunes App Store where it will go through the approval process.

Developing Your App

Buzztouch provides some excellent video tutorials for developing your iPhone application. I will provide simply an overview of the process. Basically, the core content of the Buzztouch app consists of one or more basic mobile iPhone template items. For example, I partially created an iPhone RSS feed app for p2ktech.com, although of course you can download the official MUO app from the App Store.
After you do the free registration on the Buzztouch site, you will need to be familiar with the tools and templates that the app creation software provides. You will need to create and gather the content for your app before you get started in the process. It’s like gathering content for producing a website. In fact, your existing website could be the basis of a web-based iPhone app. Thus a Buzztouch app could be useful for realtors, modelling agencies, small restaurants, performers, bloggers, etc.
You start off the process by creating a name for your site.
Know To Create An iPhone Or Android App Without Any Coding Skills

Next, you need to add a logo for your app. I borrowed one from MUO’s existing application. A professional looking logo is highly recommended for your app to have any chance of being purchased and downloaded from the App Store. As you can see, Buzztouch makes adding the icon very easy. In each step of the process, an iPhone simulation will show you the results of the content you provide.
Know To Create An iPhone Or Android App Without Any Coding Skills

As shown in the following control panel, you will need to add a homepage image and introductory information for your app. That’s very easy to do. Where it says “Manage this app’s menus & screens” is the core content of your app.
Know To Create An iPhone Or Android App Without Any Coding Skills

Clicking on that tool, you are provided with a set of tools for building your app. So far example, if you want to an RSS feed app for your blog site, you would add the RSS feed tool as one of your Home Screen Menu items.
Know To Create An iPhone Or Android App Without Any Coding Skills

There are 20 other templates for adding items, such as a Streaming and/or YouTube video, an Email Us page, a multiple choice quiz, a single image, a PDF doc, and a share via Facebook tool.
Know To Create An iPhone Or Android App Without Any Coding Skills

As with any professional looking website, you will want to have the content of your app polished and well edited.

Compiling Code

At any time during the process of building your app, you can have Buzztouch compile the code and send it over to Xcode to see the results. After Buzztouch prepares your code, it will download it to your computer. In the resulting folder, you will want to click on the file with the name of your app and the extension, “xcodeproj.” When you click the Run button in Xcode, it will open the iPhone simulator that is a part of the programmer.
Know To Create An iPhone Or Android App Without Any Coding Skills

You really don’t need programming skills to produce your application, but you do need to be comfortable with using this sort of technology.
A few examples of apps developed by Buzztouch include Ian James’ Piano Live which is designed to keep his fans updated about  his live shows and other information;

and Thrifty Car Sales, a calculator produced by Thrifty Car Sales to calculate the interest rate on a car loan, as well as other tips for buying a car.

Let us know what you think of Buzztouch. If you create an app and post it for free download on the App Store, let us know about it. We might consider reviewing it as a follow-up to this article.

Know To Create Your Own Portable App For A Flash Drive

Know To Create Your Own Portable App For A Flash Drive
Over the past few years, USB thumb drives have become very popular. They transfer files relatively fast (compared to CD’s), happen to be extremely small and unobtrusive, and plug into almost any computer with a USB port.

Personally, I have two flash drives on my keychain right now, and I can’t imagine how I ever got by without them. Thanks to the convenience of the modern thumb drive, I can copy documents or other important files onto a small drive that fits in a change pocket, and transfer them to another computer. This is in fact, what most people do with thumb drives–nothing special so far.
Using your flash drive as a backup and transfer device is great–but you haven’t really unlocked the potential of the USB until you’ve installed some programs on it.

Sites like PortableApps actually have pre-packaged applications that you can install directly to your USB drive. These apps, games, and utilities will run from your USB stick when you plug it into a computer(provided that they’re on the operating system the programs run on). Aibek compiled an excellent list of 100 Portable Apps for your USB Stick that I would recommend checking out if you’re looking for pre-packaged programs to put on your thumb drive.
So, you found a really cool application and there was no pre-packaged version of it anywhere on the internet that would install it to your USB drive. Looks like it’s time to learn how to create a portable app for flash drive. Please note: I’m not referring to U3 flash drives; that’s a different ballgame in several ways (even though they can be used much the same way).

The example application I’m going to make portable is Audacity, an open source audio editing program. You can download your own file, or follow along using Audacity (recommended for your first time) before you try this method on your own applications.

Step 1: Download the application setup file

If you’re following along, download the Audacity installation file. Make sure this download is relatively isolated or things will get confusing later.

Step 2: Download Universal Extractor and WinRAR

Download Universal Extractor and a program such as WinRAR. Install both programs–we need both to make this work. Make sure you allow both programs to associate with their respective file-types, and restart the computer if prompted–better safe than sorry. I didn’t need to restart, but it couldn’t hurt.

Step 3: UniExtract the Setup file

Know To Create Your Own Portable App For A Flash Drive

Right click your downloaded setup file (in my case, it’s Audacity) and click “UniExtract here”. Go ahead and specify a folder that you would like to extract the setup file to. A folder will be created with the extracted files inside. Open up that folder for the next step.

Step 4: Find the EXE file that runs the program

In that extracted folder, look for the .exe file that runs the program. It’s pretty easy to spot and usually has the same name as the program you’re trying to install. For instance, in my case, the .exe is named “audacity.exe”. Double click the file and verify that it runs the program successfully.

Step 5: Pack all the files into an archive

Highlight every file in that folder, right click on them, and click “Add to archive” in the contextual menu.

Know To Create Your Own Portable App For A Flash Drive

In the resulting dialogue box, name your archive “Audacity Portable” or whatever you prefer. Under compression method, select “Best”, and be sure to check “Create SFX archive”.

Know To Create Your Own Portable App For A Flash Drive

Next, click the ‘Advanced’ tab and click “SFX Options…”. In “Run after extraction” field, input the name of the .exe file that you located in Step 4. In my case, the name was “audacity.exe”.

Know To Create Your Own Portable App For A Flash Drive

Head on over to the ‘Modes’ tab and select “Unpack to temporary folder” and “Hide all”

Know To Create Your Own Portable App For A Flash Drive

Lastly, go to the ‘Update’ tab and select “Overwrite all files”. Now go ahead and hit OK, and watch WinRAR generate an application file.

Step 6: Copy the file to your USB drive

This step is pretty self explanatory. Drag the application to your USB drive (wherever you want it to be) and then give it a test run! Double click the application to run it–on any Windows machine! This version of Audacity is Windows only.
So to sum things up, we essentially found a file we wanted, extracted it, and then repackaged it with a few of our own preferences thrown in. Every time you click the application, it’s actually going to briefly unpack the file into a few hidden folders so that the .exe has access to the resources it needs. This means that the app takes about 2 seconds or so longer to execute (depending on the size of the app), but it will execute seamlessly.
What do you think? Did this process work for you? I personally like this method, but there are others out there that can also work (like copying the entire program folder from the program files directory). Unfortunately, the other methods I’ve tried have been unreliable.
The general rule of thumb for the method I’ve shown here is that if the .exe in step 4 executes successfully, the process will also be successful and you’ll be able to pack it all into an application file. I hope you enjoyed this article and found its contents useful. Let me know what you think in the comments section!

How To Use Mobile Phone As Webcam

This tutorial will show you How to use your mobile as a Webcam.

Many of us don’t have Webcams and might want to use your mobile as a Webcam to save on some cash and also to put your mobile camera to better use.
You will need to install your Bluetooth stack / drivers – Microsoft, Bluesoliel, Widcomm etc if you plan to use Bluetooth to connect your phone and PC. You will also need to install Nokia PC Suite in case you are using a Nokia phone.
There are two applications to use your mobile as a Webcam:

1. Mobiola Webcam

How To Use Mobile Phone As WebcamDownload Mobiola Webcam

Mobiola Webcam is the most popular Webcam software for mobiles, it is compatible with many phones – Symbian S60, S60 V3, UIQ, Windows Mobile, Blackberry etc. In case it isn’t compatible with your phone, but your phone supports J2ME, you can use the Mobiola Webcam Lite version. It runs on almost all J2ME phones. In case, you have some prehistoric phone with no J2ME support, then it’s time to dump it and get a new phone.
Just download Mobiola Webcam / Webcam Lite from the above links after selecting your platform. Install the Mobiola Web cam setup on your PC and transfer the mobile sis / jar file to your mobile and install it. Be sure to give it all the access permissions it requires during installation.
Just start the Mobiola application on your mobile and PC. From your mobile, select Options > Connect and select the connection method – Bluetooth, USB or Wi-Fi. We would recommend connecting via data cable as it is faster. After you are connected, you can use the mobile camera as your Webcam. Just start your favourite application and in the Video / Webcam options, select the Mobiola Webcam / Your Phone. You can adjust the video quality, contrast and brightness from Options > Settings.

2. WWIGO (Webcam Wherever I Go)

How To Use Mobile Phone As WebcamDownload WWIGO
WWIGO is also a nice little application that allows you to use your mobile camera as a Webcam. It supports connections via Bluetooth only though. Just download the application from the above link and install it. After installation, navigate to your Program Files directory and get the WWIGO mobile application from there. Transfer it to your mobile and install it.
Now start both the PC and mobile WWIGO applications. Now select an GPRS access point in your mobile, and select Options > Connect. Select your PC as the Bluetooth device and let the PC and mobile WWIGO applications connect.
After the connection is done, you can use your mobile camera to record videos as a Webcam. To use it as a Webcam, open the Webcam / video settings of your application and select WWIGO as the Webcam. You can adjust the video resolution and zoom levels from Options > Settings
That’s it, You are done. Happy Chatting.
Note: Yea, I know there are loads of similar tutorials everywhere. But as I was running out of ideas to write on, I thought this would be fine.

Make Social Technology Count in Your Workplace

Make Social Technology Count in Your Workplace
A friend, who was involved in developing early word processing systems (imagine a world without Microsoft Office or Open Office), was recently talking about the productivity-improvement claims made by proponents of word processing. I’m like WHAT decade are we in? Smiles. I’m GASPing for air. By moving offices and workers away from typewriters, Dictaphone machines and stenography, businesses were supposed to see huge productivity gains. Individuals would be empowered and secretaries (try finding a few of those today) would have time to work on projects of higher value to companies. There would be no reliance on White-out, steno pads or other mostly-dead products and everyone would be freed from the drudgery of office work. The payoff for companies? The holy trinity of time-savings, cost-reduction and ROI!

What really happened? We all – more or less willingly – took on responsibility for our own busy work, and a whole work classification was eliminated. There are no “secretaries” any more – Phew. There are a few executive assistants, reserved mostly for the V and C-suite. This is something my baby boomer friend regrets; early in his career he had a secretary, Jean, who could type 105 words a minute with no errors and take dictation at 90 words a minute. She kept his schedule, remembered everything, and shielded him from useless meetings and other distractions. Now he’s on his own, working without a net, like most of us, in a world where notions of value have changed. What gives?

We’re seeing a similar shift now in the world of work with social technologies and social media tools. From Yammer to wikis, talent management software and enterprise instant-messaging platforms like Salesforce Chat and Microsoft Lync, businesses are structuring a workplace where most interchanges are not person-to-person but are instead mediated by technology. This shift has been valued at upwards of $1.3 trillion by no less an authority than McKinsey , which studied the use and impact of social tech in four sectors: professional services, retail financial services, packaged goods and advanced manufacturing.

Not surprisingly, McKinsey sees a large percentage of the value of social tech coming from two sources: improved communications and collaboration. These benefits will be realized internally, as employees collaborate, and externally, as consumers interact with brands.

But value isn’t something you get by buying technology, closing your eyes and making a wish. Value is real only if it can be measured. Further, it’s arguably possible to extract value from technology only when your work culture understands and accepts the reasoning for adopting the technology, which requires employees to trust the company and its managers. Without trust, in other words, value cannot be calculated.

So leaders and employees unite and celebrate! Here are five things to put in place if you hope to extract value from social technology in your workplace:

1) Define what value means to your organization. For example, is there more value in social tech-mediated collaboration than there is in face-to-face meetings? In which circumstances or use cases is the statement true or false? At which employee grade is it true or false? Is your notion of value organizational (e.g., human factors), financial (e.g., measureable ROI) or process (e.g., time savings)? Create different timelines for each vector to see where you’ll experience a value bump first.

2) Create a value measurement methodology. If you’re measuring collaboration, for example, tie hard costs to it: less travel, less time to complete a task, more people on board with an idea or initiative.

3) Determine which tools, processes and policies support your definition of value, and which must be changed. Email may not support your definition of value in the above model, nor may in-person meetings. Processes designed to support building teams will need to be revised so teams can be constructed virtually among people who’ve never met F2F. Policies requiring performance reviews to be conducted by team members may need to be adjusted, and so on. This may requires a close look at many policies, which is time-consuming; factor that into your value equations.

4) Create a link between your notion of value and the value of employee trust. This will be tough, but one place to start is to create a value statement describing the organizational value of employee trust. Then look for the deltas in your model of the value of social tech. You may want to bring in an HR or organizational consultant to help structure the examination if you need help from the outside.

5) Socialize your expectations of the value to be realized from social technology. Poll employees to see if they buy in. If they don’t, you’ll gain not only understanding of why there may be resistance to using social tech tools, as well as a roadmap of policies and procedures which may require change for the organization to realize value from social tech.

We’re just beginning to see the disruptive effects of social technology and social media at large. Very exciting times in the world of work. Will it destroy whole job categories? It remains to be seen. Will it deliver value? I vote yes.

What about you? Is your leadership or employee style one the embraces parts or all of this?

How To Turn A USB Flash Drive Into Extra Virtual RAM

It's not hard to turn an extra USB stick lying around that's collecting dust into extra memory for your computer, allowing it to run speedier and manage more applications better.

DIY site Instructables has a guide on how to put a flash drive to good use by using it to increase the virtual RAM on your Windows computer. For the best results, Instructables user MoritzB suggests using a USB drive smaller than 4 GB for this little trick. We've paraphrased some of the instructions for you below:
How To Turn A USB Flash Drive Into Extra Virtual RAM

Rename your thumb drive as "RAM DRIVE" or something similar, so you can see which drive is being used as RAM.
Delete all the stuff on the flash drive. Check for hidden files.
Right click on My Computer, and go to Properties. Once there, click on Advanced and go to the system output's Settings.
Click on Advanced, and then Edit.
Click on your thumb drive above, and select "user-defined size." Here you can see the size of your flash drive.
Calculate the size of the flash drive, and subtract 5 Mb.
Type this number in the first box. In the second box, type in the same number.
Click Set and confirm all your settings, applying them wherever you can.
Restart your computer.
Windows 7 users should go into their System Properties, under the Performance tab for these options. After you're done, your computer will recognize your flash drive as extra virtual memory. Do not pull out your thumb drive after these settings are implemented. It could crash your computer. Instructables has the whole tutorial, with step-by-step screenshots below.

Google, Electronic Textbooks, and Collaborative Schooling?

A series of Google patent applications describe the use of an electronic textbook reader application that makes using an electronic textbook a much better experience than just reading a book on a screen.

I remember lugging around a lot of books while traveling to classes on foot or my bicycle, or even while driving to law school. As an English degree undergraduate, I got away with buying a lot of my books for literature classes from a used book store (I probably left with a few hundred dollars in trade-in credit). Many of those were paperbacks that didn’t put a burden on the backpacks I wore out in those years, but many others were weighty volumes. Especially the texts from law school. I couldn’t carry all of my law school texts at the same time if I wanted – they just took up too much space.

Google, Electronic Textbooks, and Collaborative Schooling?

Google published 6 patents last week that cover different aspects of the use of electronic textbooks that attempt to capture some of the benefits of using real books while adding new value to the use of electronic texts. As the first patent I’ve listed notes:

Although some attempts have been made to transform study material from Gutenberg’s era to the digital era, some of the advantages of using paper books for study purposes have not been replicated. Students from time immemorial have used their texts in different ways.

Some highlight portions of particular interest; others place notes in the margins to keep track of clarifications of difficult concepts. Some used textbooks are more useful than new ones because they naturally fall open to the most important pages after repeated use, or because particularly important pages or sections are more dog-eared than others. Electronic reading devices have not to date provided interfaces to implement some of these subtle yet important features that help students learn from their texts most efficiently*.

* My Emphasis.

Are the patent applications an indication that Google might start selling or renting electronic textbooks? It’s hard to say for certain. The patent filings are an indication that they’ve explored the idea.

Would you rent or buy electronic textbooks that make it easy for you to remember what you had been looking at and doing with the textbook last, including using a gesture to get you to the place you had last left off?

Or display or hide annotations that you’ve left on the book with a gesture, or by moving your ebook reader in a certain way?

Or even to find out more about books or articles that might be referenced in an ebook, including publisher, price, user feedback, and sources if available.

The electronic textbooks described would also enable you to share notes in a collaborative manner between members of a study group, or even publicly, or to use a specific gesture to connect with a teaching assistant or the class professor to ask questions. For example:

As a second example, specific annotations are immediately recognized as corresponding to commands rather than actual annotations. For example, in one embodiment a handwritten annotation in the form of a question mark with a circle around it is interpreted as a request to send a question regarding the nearby text to the appropriate teaching assistant for that course (or other predetermined moderator), and a dialog box immediately opens, preaddressed to the teaching assistant, allowing the student to ask the question.

In one embodiment, the message to the teaching assistant is automatically tagged with the corresponding portion of the text so that the student does not need to include any context with the specific question, but can just include the question in a way that might be confusing without context. For example, if the text shows an illegal divide-by-zero operation, the student’s question could simply be: “Why can’t you do this?” without any further contextual information.

You could also set up a way to quickly move to a glossary section of a page, and then back to where you were previously, and then back again quickly.

If you wanted to clip and copy a portion of the textbook into an electronic notebook to include with notes, instead of leaving an annotation within the body of the book, that’s also a possibility.

Another aspect of this electronic text application would be to make it very easy to quickly create a personal study guide. It can take a fair amount of time to do that – I remember suggesting to a friend who entered law school in my last year that he use a laptop for all of the briefs that he created, so that he could quickly pull the important parts out into a study guide for each class.

The patent filings themselves provide more details on features that could be associated with the electronic textbook reading application involved. I’ve read enough to wish that I had one of these readers in the classes I took, and didn’t wear out all of the book bags that I did.

Here are the patent applications:

US Patent Application 20120221972
Published August 30, 2012
Filed: July 14, 2011

Abstract

An electronic book system provides interfaces particularly suited to students’ use of textbooks. A finger press on a touch screen produces a contextual menu with user choices that relate to where the finger was pressed or what the user was recently doing with the book. A student provisionally navigates through a book by a specific gesture which, when it stops, returns the user to the previous position in the book. TomTom Android app confirmed to arrive in October

TomTom Android app confirmed to arrive in October
The Android ecosystem has its fair share of navigation system apps, with Google’s home brewed offering doing a mighty fine job already. However, it certainly won’t hurt to have TomTom finally jumping onboard. After a not so subtle hint two months ago, TomTom for Android is ready to direct you to your destination and stop you from getting lost — and it’s coming pretty soon.

The Android version of TomTom, which will be showcased at IFA event, is bringing along many features that one expect to see from TomTom, such as on-board maps with new map interface, updated routes, traffic redirection, intelligent routing, advanced lane guidance, spoken street names, 2D/3D driving view, and even speed camera alerts.

Optimistic about the October launch of TomTom on the platform that it has seemingly forsaken in the last couple of years, TomTom managing director Corinne Vigreux said that bringing TomTom navigation app to Android smartphone is a significant milestone for the company.

While many features on the app can be used for no extra cost, users will have to cough up more dough for the use of HD traffic and speed camera alerts through in-app purchasing.

There’s no word yet on how much TomTom will cost, but we should be hearing more details  as we near the release date. In the meantime, how excited are you about TomTom finally finding its way to Android?

New side-scrolling continuous running game Escape from Rikon sprints onto Android

If you are into continuous running games but happen to be looking for something a little different, developers going by the name of Tvee have released a side-scrolling one called Escape From Rikon. Featuring a more cartoon style of visuals, this game is pretty much what you expect it to be, just in side-scrolling format.

Instead of the usual over-the-shoulder point of view most of the continuous running games worth their salt use, this particular one is a side-scroller where you can jump and slide over and under obstacles. Themed a lot like Temple Run with the whole jungle atmosphere, there are also power-ups you can by from the coins you collect from each run you do in the game.

android_game_1 android_game_1

The controls are pretty straightforward as well, tapping on the left side of the screen will make your character jump while tapping on the right will make him slide. There are the usual sharing features as well whenever you get a new best score, sharing it with friends on Facebook.

If you're up for something a little different in this genre, you might want to check Escape from Rikon out. It is available for free off of the Google Play store.

Apple Breaks The Record Of Microsoft

New York: Apple Inc’s market value climbed past $623 billion on Monday, surpassing the record set by Microsoft Corp during the heyday of technology stocks in 1999.

Apple shares rose 2.6 percent, bringing its gains this month to almost 9 percent as Wall Street bets on the September 12 rollout of the latest version of the iPhone, the device that revolutionized the mobile industry.

Microsoft, however, retains the title of history’s most valuable company if its 1999 peak value of about $621 billion were to be adjusted for inflation.

Apple’s stock usually rallies in the run-up to major product launches, among the most heavily watched events on the annual tech calendar. The iPhone is the company’s biggest product, yielding half or more of its sales.

apple breaks the record of microsoft

Sources have said the company will take the wraps off a larger version of its iPhone on September 12. Some analysts also think it intends to announce a smaller iPad to safeguard its market share, as rivals from Google Inc to Amazon.com Inc begin selling cheaper, seven-inch tablets.

But Bernstein Research’s Toni Sacconaghi warned that questions remain about the availability of components for both the iPhone and the iPad, which in the past has constrained Apple’s product shipments.

“A key question for the launch will be Apple’s expected rollout schedule,” the analyst wrote on Monday. “Apple’s intention is to continue to ramp offerings as quickly as possible, but the company’s ability to do so remains a key near-term question.”

Apple’s shares have risen 64 percent in 2012. On Monday, they closed at a session high of $665.15, conferring on the Silicon Valley giant a capitalization of $623.5 billion, exceeding Microsoft’s 1999 value of $620.8 billion, according to data provided by S&P Dow Jones Indices.

But Microsoft’s value would rise to $853.7 billion after adjusting for rising prices, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ inflation-calculator.

POLAR OPPOSITES

Apple overtook Exxon Mobil (XOM.N) to reach the No. 1 spot by market capitalization last year. Monday’s move means it has now entered the record books as the biggest company ever, in terms of market value.

“Everyone loves a winner; if you play the quick trade be careful,” said Howard Silverblatt, senior index analyst at S&P Dow Jones Indices in emailed comments. “If you are an investor, check the fundamentals and business plans, and avoid the hype in your decision.”

Apple climbed even as fellow technology heavyweight Facebook Inc (FB.O) plumbed new depths. The No. 1 social network slid to a record intraday low of $18.75 in the morning before bouncing back to close just above $20 after Capstone upgraded the company’s stock to buy from hold.

Facebook’s stock has gone south in the past month as investors worried about its ability to make revenue grow. Last week, some early investors were given the go-ahead to sell for the first time since Facebook’s May 18 IPO. Several similar lockups will expire through the end of the year.

Facebook rebounded above $20 in afternoon trade after Capstone’s upgrade, based on a combination of a more attractive valuation since its decline, and good long-term advertising prospects.

“It seems to be down around levels that people who didn’t like the deal thought it was really worth. And now it seems to have stabilized,” sad Eric Kuby, chief investment officer, North Star Investment Management Corp in Chicago.

It may have “found a level which seems more of a better price for people valuing the company in terms of the future.”

Know To Increase Traffic Through These 10 Ways Of Twitter

Twitter provides a great platform through which you can increase your blog traffic.  Many people know this yet they fail to actually take full advantage of it. Here are 10 ways that you can do this without
being viewed as a spammer.

1.) Send out short tips about a topic covered on your blog and include a url to one of the posts.  This is great because people who read your tips will be interested in learning more and many of them will click the link and visit your blog.

2.) Set up your blog posts to automatically post to twitter. You can do this with the wordpress blogging plugin called twitter tools or with the networked blogs application on facebook. The second one posts your blog posts to facebook and then also to twitter.

3.) Look for people who are tweeting about the same topics your blog covers and follow them and then share specific blog posts with them.

4.) Use the twitter search feature at search.twitter.com to located people asking questions about topics related to your blog and then reply back to them by answering their question and referring to a blog
post.

5.) Include your blog url as your website url on your twitter profile and include the link on your twitter profile background.

6.) Convert the content of some of your posts into audio and then share these audios with your followers via the audioboo application. People who may not read your posts, will listen to them.

7.) Do a search for lists on twitter. Find lists that cover topics you also talk about on your blog and then share your blog posts with the people on that list.

8.) Install the tweetmeme button application on your blog to encourage people to share your blog posts on twitter.

9.) Propose a share on twitter exchange with a few other blog owners. You tweet their posts and they tweet yours.

10.) Encourage your blog readers to connect with you on twitter. This increases the likelihood that they will come back and share your posts.

Tricks Of A Blogger To Look Familier

ABOUT 85 percent of the Internet population uses the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser to surf the Web, even though it's relatively ancient, crusty with neglect and about as secure as a screen door. In what other industry would 85 percent of consumers choose such a product — when better ones, also free, were also available?

Microsoft has redesigned the Internet Explorer browser to open more space for Web pages. This version also accepts material sent by R.S.S.

Trick question. Those consumers aren't actually choosing Internet Explorer; in fact, they're not choosing. They just use what came on their Windows computers. Thanks to this built-in following, Microsoft hasn't felt much need to keep Internet Explorer current. Version 6 has been creaking along for five years — an eternity in Internet time.

But hope is in the air. Earlier this week, Microsoft took the wraps off IE 7. The new version is a public beta — Beta 2 — and therefore technically unfinished. Still, Microsoft feels that this release is ready for average people to try out; you can download it from www.microsoft.com/ie. Phone help is available, and you can easily restore Version 6 if necessary.

How this new browser measures up depends on the ruler you're using. If you've never used anything but Internet Explorer, you won't be able to wipe the grin off your face.

But next to rivals like Firefox, Opera and Safari, IE 7 is a catch-up and patch-up job. Some of its "new" features have been available in rival browsers for years.

For example, IE may be the last Web browser on earth to offer tabbed browsing. This useful feature lets you keep several Web sites open on the screen simultaneously — not in a hopeless mess of overlapping windows, but all in one window. File-folder index tabs at the top of the window keep them straight.

Truth is, Microsoft's version of tabbed browsing offers some very nice features. (And yes, dear e-mail correspondents, I'm aware that many of them also made their debut in other browsers.)

For example, you can summon a sheet of Web page miniatures, offering a handy, visual, clickable table of contents for your open tabs. IE 7 can also memorize a fleet of open tabs, saving them as a single bookmark. Later, one click opens them all again, arrayed just as you had them. Similarly, when you quit the browser, it offers to memorize the current open-tab setup, so that later you can pick up where you left off.

SCREEN real estate has been given a priority in Internet Explorer 7, too. ("Say goodbye to bulky toolbars," says the IE Web site — never mind that Microsoft gave us those bulky toolbars in the first place.)

The menu bar (File, Edit, View and so on) is gone, having been replaced by tiny pop-up menus at the right side of the window. (Those feeling disoriented can still summon the menu bar by tapping the Alt key.) And a single, noncustomizable toolbar contains the address bar, Back and Forward buttons, and the welcome new Search box, which can be programmed to use Google, Ask.com, MSN Search or whatever you like. Even with the added height of tabs, Microsoft has conserved so much space that you can see an additional inch or so of Web goodness without scrolling.

R.S.S. feeds represent another major new feature — new to Internet Explorer, anyway. R.S.S. (for Really Simple Syndication) is the Web's version of home delivery: instead of having to slog on over to your favorite sites, you are sent their latest articles and news automatically. To receive these convenient, free "subscriptions," though, you used to need a piece of software called an R.S.S. reader, which you had to download and configure yourself. No wonder R.S.S. doesn't yet play in Peoria.

But IE now joins the list of browsers with built-in R.S.S. readers. Whenever you visit a Web site that offers an R.S.S. subscription, a special logo lights up in IE; click it to see a sample of the R.S.S. broadcast (usually one-paragraph summary blurbs), and click Subscribe if you like what you see. The reading window offers a useful assortment of searching and sorting controls.

Other IE 7 enhancements include a Shrink to Fit printing option that eliminates chopped-off printouts; a print-preview mode whose draggable margins let you print only the useful parts of Web pages; a pop-up menu that magnifies the entire Web page (not just the text); and a single Delete Browsing History dialogue box that can erase all your tracks at once: History list, saved cookies and passwords, Web form data and temp files. (Who will find this feature useful? You know who you are.)

Now, if you currently use IE 6, those are all good reasons to upgrade, perhaps when the final version becomes available this summer. But the most important reason is mostly invisible: security.

As a bulwark against frauds, viruses and spyware, Internet Explorer has been about as solid as a sieve. It was such a fat target for Internet bad guys that using it was like hanging a blinking neon Hackers' Entrance sign on your PC.

Internet Explorer 7 is a different story. Not many people beyond engineers will find its 15-page list of patches compelling reading; it's about stuff like Cross-Domain Script Protection, IDN Display Protections and Enhanced Validation SSL.

But some of the security measures are comprehensible even to laymen, and they sound reassuring indeed. For example, any files that you download go into a Temporary Internet Files folder that prevents them from running automatically, in that way thwarting the installation of many evil programs. Spyware can no longer enter your machine by piggybacking on some piece of innocent software, either.

Most welcome of all, a sophisticated phishing detector warns you, with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer, whenever you open a fraudulent phishing page. (An example of a phishing fraud is an e-mail message that says, "Your eBay account will soon be closed; click here for details." Worried, you click the provided link and confirm your account information. Unfortunately, you've just handed over your credit card and account numbers to the Internet baddies, who have set up a fake eBay screen just for suckers like you.)

All those desperate swindlers, spammers and phishers will, no doubt, devise even more nefarious ways to invade PC's and trick their owners. But Internet Explorer 7 will make their job a heck of a lot harder.

Compared against Internet Explorers past, the new version is more secure, better looking and more efficient. There are, however, a few strings attached.

For example, it works only with Windows XP with Service Pack 2. (It will also work with next year's Windows Vista, of course — in fact, that version will offer an additional feature or two, including excellent parental controls.) The installation process is somewhat eccentric, and requires a restart of the PC.

Note, too, that Internet Explorer still offers no Autofill button that completes online order forms with a single click. The new placement of controls will baffle veterans of almost any browser — for example, the Back/Forward, Refresh, Home and Stop buttons are no longer near each other.

Finally, Microsoft says IE 7's better compliance with behind-the-scenes Web technology standards will delight Web designers. Still, some Web sites won't look or work right until they're rejiggered to accommodate the new browser. Thousands of lazy designers, for example, deny access to their sites to anyone not using Internet Explorer 6.

If you want the best browser on the market, several million fans will recommend that you look at programs like Firefox or Opera.

But without question, Internet Explorer 7 represents a big, long-awaited step in the direction of modernization. Millions of people still consider Internet Explorer their window into the Internet — and the sooner they leave the 1990's, the better.

Know To Create Fake Websit ScreenShot using Firebug

When you think of faked or edited screenshots, programs like Photoshop probably pop into your mind. I’ve never been very creative when it comes to design and graphical work, so that’s nearly out of the question for me. If you’re trying to swap faces in a picture, you’ll need to learn how to use programs like that. If you’re trying to do something like change the text in a Facebook conversation, there’s no need. All you need is Firebug and a PrtScrn key.

Firebug is available for every major browser: IE6+, Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome. In this example, I’ll be running you through a tutorial on how to use it for its native browser, Firefox. What is Firebug though? Firebug is a browser add-on that allows you to edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. To manipulate webpages as I’m going to show you today, you won’t need to know any of those languages.

Installing Firebug

Installation is incredibly easy. Head on over to the official website to download the add-on. From there, select your browser (Firefox preferred, so that following along is easier). Install the add-on and restart your browser if necessary.
Know To Create Fake Websit ScreenShot using Firebug

Using Firebug

Upon installing Firebug, by default, the icon should be displayed in your add-on bar, Tools menu, and possibly the context menu. Click on the icon in your add-on bar and you’ll see a new tab pop up at the bottom of your screen.

Know To Create Fake Websit ScreenShot using Firebug

What you’re seeing here is an HTML view of the elements of the webpage you’re on. In this example, it’s the Firebug download page on Firefox add-ons. If you’re interested in using Firebug for the more usual purposes, feel free to poke around the tabs and get a feel for its features.
The button that I’ve highlighted in that screenshot is the inspect tool. This is the tool we’re going to be using. Click that button and then you’ll notice that every area of text that you hover your cursor over will become highlighted in the webpage view, and then highlighted down in Firebug’s HTML view.

Know To Create Fake Websit ScreenShot using Firebug

Changing Text

Click on the block of text that you want to manipulate. You’ll see that the text has been selected in Firebug’s HTML view. From there, double click the line of HTML that includes the text you want to change. You can begin typing in whatever you want.

Know To Create Fake Websit ScreenShot using Firebug

As you type, you’ll see that the preview updates live on the webpage.

Know To Create Fake Websit ScreenShot using Firebug

Cool, right? It’s especially easy because of the way that Firebug allows you to isolate raw text from wrapped HTML. That way, all HTML elements, CSS styles, and other important visuals are preserved so that it looks like the real copy.

Know To Create Fake Websit ScreenShot using Firebug

As you get more comfortable with Firebug, or if you already know HTML, you’ll find it just as easy to change other on-page elements, like images.
